His birth, his ministry, and Atonement

This Christmas I have had a lot of time to reflect on "the reason for the season"- Christmas songs that we love to sing and the Christmas hymns, setting up hundreds of Nativity displays from all over the world, and to finish off, reading the accounts of many looking forward to the birth of Christ because of the signs given.  As I was helping set up different Nativity sets I couldn't help but think about different parts of the world. There are many Nationalites which rejoice at the birth of Christ. The Prophets of old testified of his birth, Isaiah tells of Christs birth, his ministry and Atonement.

Jesus Christ really came to this earth and suffered and died so we could return to our Heavenly Father. This is the reason why we celebrate his birth. He lived a perfect and sinless life. Although he was tempted, he never gave in to temptation. I testify he is the Savior and Redeemer for you and me, for all nationalities, and for the world.  He taught and teaches us the way. His teachings have been restored. I love him and I will be forever grateful for what he has done for me. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

Walk while ye have the Light

I have been thinking a lot about the feelings and Gift of the spirit. Well i know that you and me want to be truly happy, and we want to be happy everyday. One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is light. Light is bright it is attractive and i always want it around me.

So how do we get that happiness / light and how do we keep it?  It is a gift from God, we receive it through Faith and Obedience to the Gospel (the teachings) of Jesus Christ.

When i read, search, and love the scriptures i feel of this happiness so much so that I have a great desire to share the principle I learned about that day with others. My Scripture study prepares me to invite the Holy Spirit into my heart.

I am so grateful for the time i have to devote to studying, pondering and sharing the Gospel!

My Invitation to you is one of our savior's

John 12:35  Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

So the conclusion is walk by the Spirit. It will illuminate your understanding!  Christ says " And if your eye be single to my glory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light... and that body which is filled with light comprehendeth all things.

Do not Despair

Wrecked a car?, Having a hard time putting you trust in God?, Do you feel like you are stuck in a rut?

Everyone of us have been in some sort of situation like this, for me i can remember back to the time when i was riding my bicycle in a Blizzard with a new missionary, i thought to myself ' i wish i had my face mask', me and this missionary were riding up this canyon and i have to say it was pretty miserable. No one would let us in that day and it was any moment that either one of us would slip off of our bikes because of the snow and ice. We went home for a lunch break and i remember my companion telling me he was going to check the mail, i sat inside and said a little prayer, by the time i finished this Elder was back with some mail and told me that i had a package, the first thing i could see as i opened the package was my face mask. I knew that it wasn't a coincidence or right timing, i knew and still know that the God loves and knows me. He knew i was in need of my face mask otherwise i would have a frozen face.

For Christmas my parents sent me a calendar, i needed a calendar, but i don't think they actually know how much i needed that particular calendar. As i received it in December i opened up to the December page ( the whole Calendar was filled with Temples), except for December.  This was on the December Calendar

"There are times when you simply have to righteously hang on and outlast the devil until his depressive spirit leaves you"- Ezra Taft Benson

As i walked past my calendar the rest of December i repeatedly remembered President Benson's quote, I know that what he has said is true, i know that as we  "Righteously Hang on" we will have the peace and the comfort that God wants to give us, all of us need to go through a little growing pain.

What did I get from Listening to the Prophet and Apostles?

General Conference was what I needed for my Spiritual nourishment.  I received an answer to my prayers and fulfilled a thought that i had been working on for quite a while.

  • Elder Richard G. Scott  talked about the tools to overcome our problems, these are the scriptures.   'They have potent power to heal emotional challenges when there is faith in the Savior. They can accelerate physical healing. Scriptures are like packets of light that illuminate our minds and give place to guidance and inspiration from on high.' Those who consistently read the Book of Mormon will have an added measure of the Spirit and a stronger testimony of Jesus Christ.

  • Sister Barbra Thompson gave us great insights on how we can receive revelation for ourselves. First we need to Desire it, Ask in Faith (believing that ye shall receive) and keep the commandments of God. We must nourish our Testimonies so our Testimonies can keep us She shared a story about a woman who in the time of WWII shared her food with others and they asked how she was able to keep a Testimony in those trying times and she said her Testimony kept her.

  •      Elder Henry B. Eyring encouraged us to  Form a habit of pushing on through the fatigue and fear that might make you think of quitting.  'The Lord’s great mentors have shown me that spiritual staying power comes from working past the point when others would have taken a rest.'

Does the Book of Mormon Really Testify of Christ?

I have heard people say  that the Book of Mormon Talks about "another Christ".

In the Book of Mormon, there is so much that testifies of  Jesus Christ the son of the Living God.

My favorite part of the Book of Mormon is the personal visitation and ministry of Jesus Christ among a tribe signified as the "Nephites".

Just as Christ taught on the sermon on the mount, healed the people and prayed for them in Jerusalem, his love spread to the Nephites in the American Continent after his resurrection. He also taught His doctrine and healed, blessed and prayed to his father for them.

3rd Nephi 17:7 Have ye any that are sick among you? Bring them hither. Have ye any that are lame, or blind, or halt, or maimed, or leprous, or that are withered, or that are deaf, or that are afflicted in any manner? Bring them hither and I will heal them, for I have compassion upon you; my bowels are filled with mercy.

Jesus Christ has shown his love to both the people of Jerusalem and the people of the Americas. Christ told the Nephties, because of their faith, he said " And now behold, my joy is full."

I invite all to consider the Evidence that is accessible to the whole world in 82 languages that God still speaks to us today, that he loves us and the Gospel has been restored to the earth today through a living prophet.  I know that the Book of Mormon is true and the prophets who recorded their record clearly testify of Jesus Christ!

Become as Little Children

What is it that makes a Child so enjoyable to be around?

I am favorable with my own Nieces and Nephews.

They are so cute and a joy to be around.

Christ taught:

Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Why would our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ want us to become like children?

Children have many characteristics and Attributes that we lose as we grow up, for example : they are willing to learn, they trust everything you say, they are full of light, love and laughter.  We were teaching this girl and we asked her little cousin as she was playing with a barbie, ' do you believe in Jesus Christ'? Yes she said without missing a beat.  That is exactly what our Savior is talking about! How easy it is to believe, we just have to put aside our carnal minds and view life with the spirit that has been given to us.

I invite everyone to work at humbling ourselves that we may become as little children.
submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon us, even as a child doth submit to his father.

Measurements of Success

Have you ever been stuck in a car for 14 hours?, with nothing around except flat lands and rolling hills. You have no clue how truly far you are or when you are going to make it to your destination.

Life can be like this:

I remember talking to this man in Hamilton, Montana he didn't really believe in God ,and didn't really have any hope or knowledge of the purpose of life. He showed me this book that talked about measuring success, by something that is tangible.
For Example, if you want to go to  Placerville CA, you are close but if you are headed in the direction of Ocean City, MD you are miles away!

So how do we measure our spiritual success?

We also have signs marking our way, it is given to us by the Holy Spirit, we can ask God ' Am I on the right path?'

Instead of seeing a sign that says you are this far away, God speaks to us through our feelings, our heart, and mind. The key is we can't be stubborn about asking for directions when we are lost or about to get lost!

How do you know that when you embark on a journey from your home to your desired destination that it is actually there?

We don't but that is why we walk by Faith, not by sight. (2 Cor. 5:7 )

There was a young man who wanted to know his state and standing before God, instead of receiving a 'you are doing good, or keep going', he was given a great work and responsibility. This young man was Joseph Smith, I am grateful he kept James's invitation alive ( James 1:5)

I know that I can ask my Heavenly Father and he will teach and comfort me by the Holy Spirit.

If you want to know and have a personal relationship with your Heavenly Father, ask him he will answer.

" When you do good you feel good, when you do bad you feel bad"

God and Jesus Christ, are closer than we think, know us better than we know and love us more than we can imagine.

If we need correcting, let us be Humble enough for that correction, and in all things you do Find Joy in the Journey.

The Mist of Darkness

Striving to become a disciple of Jesus Christ, I have felt that I, myself have went through the Refiner's fire. After I have gotten through it, i notice even more clearly the bad in the world.

As i was talking to a guy yesterday, he said that it is a good attempt to bring good into the world and what we are doing is honorable.

I realized it starts with one follower of Jesus Christ.

Why is unbelief so popular today?  I pondered on this very thought, with some of my friends in mind, I prayed and asked God to ' help me understand'. Then i read this talk ... " Finding ourselves in Lehi's Dream" http://lds.org/liahona/2010/08/finding-ourselves-in-lehis-dream?lang=eng&query=finding+ourselves+Lehis+dream

Who is Lehi and why is he so important?  He was a man of God, he was called to be a prophet.

He had a dream, just as we have dreams.

What was so important about his dream for us today?
Read it carefully and find out!

Image

I will give you some insight.  Lehi had a man come to him and told him to follow him, as he did he was led into darkness, where he traveled for many hours, he prayed to God to deliver him out of the Darkness.

He came to a large and spacious field. In that field there was a  bright and glorious tree with fruit, the fruit was white and pure Lehi knew he wanted the fruit, he knew it would bring him happiness. As he ate the fruit,it filled him with that happiness, he wanted the rest of his family to come and eat it as well.

Two of his sons and his wife ate the fruit, but his two other sons, who were more rebellious didn't.

Lehi sees a rod of iron that leads to the tree .

  • Tree and Fruit( Love of God)
  • A Great and spacious building ( the world)
  • Iron Rod ( the word of God)
  • A river of water that separates the tree from the building
  • A mist of Darkness ( Anything and Everything that will tempt us or pull us away from Jesus Christ)
Lehi sees a lot of people holding on to this straight rod that leads them to the tree. As these people are holding to to the rod, a mist of Darkness comes along...

Image
they lost their way, wandered off and were lost.

Others held to the rod, pressed forward through the mist of Darkness, clinging to the rod and even ate the fruit of the tree of life.

Sadly they were ashamed, the reason they were ashamed was because of the people laughed and mocked those who held on to the Rod of Iron and ate the fruit.
Then there were those who continually held on to the rod, and fell in humility at the base of the tree, and ate the fruit. These were those who ignored the unbelievers that mocked them and tried to pull them away.

I pray that this will be a strong motivation for all of us to stay on the path that our Savior Jesus Christ has led!
There is a simple plan that our loving Heavenly Father created for us to find true Happiness and the way to return to him.          This is Jesus Christ, his example, his love and His Teachings!

Cut the Highs and Fill in the Lows

Getting concrete to lay flat can be a challenge, it sure was for me, many of my co workers, and foremans tried teaching me. It wasn't until the owner of the company taught me the simplicity of it, that I started getting it down. He said ' all you got to do is cut the Highs and Fill in the lows'. It is actually a pretty simple concept when you break it down like that.

I was walking yesterday and thought of the questions " Where did we come from?, why are we here? and Where are we going?  Some of us don't have the answers, but if that were the case for the whole world, then we would all be lost. I thought of the Term "cut the Highs and Fill in the Lows."

Doing concrete construction work, you can get caught up in many ways to succeed in laying it flat, but it all goes back to the basics in the end.

The basics give us a foundation, the three questions that I thought about are the basics. They can all be answered through Faith in Jesus Christ, Sincere Prayer and Scripture study.

Here is the tricky part, it was for me as I was trying to learn from everyone, you have to "Hear". This means applying the basics to your life.

You can ask anyone that I worked with, I tried to make the concrete "pretty" before it was flat! I was always told 'it doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to be flat'.

"The Gospel is Beautifully Simple and Simply Beautiful".

You tell me If I "Heard" what the owner taught me.?

"I know"

Everyone has heard the Term " I know" come from a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who shares their Testimony.

Why do we say that?  I had a personal experience the other day, while trying to share my Testimony with a man, he stopped me and said " this sounds like something I have heard before".

So how do we really know that God loves us, or that Jesus Christ suffered and Died for our sins?

How do we know that the Bible is the word of God ?

How do we know that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God?

How do we Know that God Exists ?

Brothers and Sisters, because we have Intelligence, our conscience and the Light of Christ.

Do we really have to see or feel something to know it is there? If we did that would not be Faith. "Faith is not to have a perfect Knowledge of things, therefore if ye have Faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true."

Our Knowledge comes from our experience, that is the beauty of life we came to gain experience!

I do know the Truth and I know it because God wants me to know it! It is my personal Conviction, my Testimony isn't bore to show someone how much I know, it is there to Invite others to taste of the Goodness of God through their personal Experience.  Experiences with the spirit follow naturally when a person is willing to experiment upon the word. This is how we come to feel the Gospel is True.

It is an Invitation to see if God will bless that individual like he has me. Our Conviction comes from the Holy Spirit, he lets us know the Truth, he invites us to ask God. The Holy Spirit and God work together to fulfill our Heavenly Fathers work and Glory!

I Will...

I wasn't one much for Poems, this one means something to me more than ever.

As i was a teenager, I was forced into going to this re inactment of the pioneers who had crossed the plains of wyoming. All we could take with us for our 3 day trip was whatever we could fit in a 5 Gallon Bucket. I didn't want to go, I didn't have the right attitude and my Mom didn't help the situation at the time.( bless her heart) she wrote this poem on my bucket so I would remember the message.

I will do more than belong, I will Participate.
I will do more than believe, I will Practice.
I will do more than be fair, I will be kind.
I will do more than Forgive, I will Forget.
I will do more than teach , I will Inspire.
I will do more than Earn, I will Enrich.
I will do more than give, I will serve.
I will do more than live, I will grow.

I now appreciate the Poem and I know it is a great reminder for all of us!

His Infinite Love and Mercy. I am a Mormon ( The Finale)

So How do I Find Forgiveness when I cross that Fence?

I make mistakes everyday, some bigger than others, I used to not recognize them or even worry about them, until I actually strived to know my Savior and Friend Jesus Christ.

First of all the Scripture is true John 17:7, "If any man will ado his bwill, he shall cknow of the doctrine."
I tried to run from my mistakes, our heavenly Father doesn't want us to do that, instead he wants us to come to him and acknowledge that we are broken.

It starts one day at a time, I started to find forgiveness day by day through sincere, consistent prayer and scripture study. It came because I gained a personal realization of who Jesus Christ is and why he is so important in my life!

And it continues to come as I serve the Lord and nourish my relationship I have with him. I know that I am Literally a Child of God, I know he cares about the little things in my life and I know that he wants me to be Happy.

Repentance is not a bad thing or a scary thing, It is true desire to give up worldly desires for spiritual desires that are a whole lot better! We don't recognize that, but he does and he is in control.

I can Always Find Forgiveness, when I cross the Fence.

I am a Mormon (Choices, Part 2)

It is not Popular to do the right thing, I don't always make the best choices or do the right thing.

Why are we given Commandments in the First place ?

While Growing up I thought that I knew better than my Parents and peers, all of us go through this cycle of life. I know now that they were right all along. Even now we think that we know better than our Heavenly Father, I am guilty of this.

Luckily Our Loving Heavenly Father has given us the freedom of choice. I am grateful he has and I know he does so we can learn and grow.

There was a story that Elder Mervyn B. Arnold told. This best describes to me why God has given us Commandments. http://lds.org/general-conference/2010/10/what-have-you-done-with-my-name?lang=eng

I would like to Highlight a few of those points he talked about.

He explains that his wife, when she was 15 years old, felt there were too many rules and commandments, how could a teenager enjoy life with so many Restrictions?

One of her jobs on her family farm was to make sure the Cows grazing on the mountain pasture did not break through the fence and get into the wheat field. A cow grazing on growing wheat can bloat, causing suffocation and death. They had a cow that would always stick it's head through the fence. One day she had found the cow had broken through and eaten the wheat, she recognized that the cow was already bloated. She thought, 'You Stupid cow! That fence was there to protect you, yet you broke through it and you have eaten so much wheat that your life is in danger.'

"While we are free to choose for ourselves, we are not free to choose the consequences of our actions. When we make a choice, we will receive the consequences of that choice".

The fence in that story was a protection, for us the commandments are a protection. Obedience to the commandments will save us from physical and spiritual death.

The Commandments are not given to us to restrict us, but to bless us.

Everyone of us Must learn that the Grass is never greener on the other side of the fence, nor will it ever be.

How can I find Forgiveness when I cross the Fence ?

I am a Mormon

There are so many good people out there, of all faiths and some who dont worship God, I would like to explain to the world why I have chosen to live my life the best I can.

(not all of my Family is pictured)

Family is the most important gift I have been given. I love spending time with my Family and I love the Example they have been for me. I am the youngest of 7 Kids, so I have had alot of examples.

Because we are spread out across the Western side of the U.S. , Special Occasions, and Holidays are the only times I get to see my parents, brothers,Sisters and Neices and Nephews.  I cherish the times that we are all together, they go so fast! especially if its a weekend, I never want the time to end.

I have a Firm Hope which leads me to my Faith, that through Jesus Christ, his love and mercy ( because my family and I are not perfect) we will be able to be Together for Time and all Eternity.

I know this because there is a reason I have my Family. God knows that everyone just wants to be Loved and accepted, this is why we are given families to have a Joy that is Indescribable.

My Family brings that Joy to me, now thats not to say that we dont get on each other's nerves, but when you are apart from them, you cherish the time and memories you have with them.

Happiness for me is being around my Family now and Forever, God wants me to experience this Happiness.

Find out more why I choose to live my life this way....

Where can I turn for Peace ?

Some of you have asked yourself this question, time and time again, some of you may be asking this question at this very moment.

Life can be crazy, I know for me it is, sometimes we start worrying about things that are out of our control, then we try to cloud our minds with other less important tasks or we try to " Numb our problems" through disobedience and distancing ourselves from our conscience which is the Light of Christ.

I have found this Hymn has become a great comfort and reality to me.

Where can I turn for peace?
Where is my solace
When other sources cease to make me whole?
When, with a wounded heart, anger, or malice
I draw myself apart searching my soul?
Where, when my aching grows?
Where, when I languish?
Where, in my need to know?
Where can I run?
Where is the quiet hand to calm my anguish?
Who, who can understand?
He, only One.
He answers privately.
Reaches my reaching.
In my Gethsemane, Savior, and friend.
Gentle, the peace He finds
For my beseeching.
Constant He is, and kind.
Love without end.

I hope this brightens your day, Remember  He, Only one, Reaches my Reaching!

Repentance and Forgiveness

The Best Is Yet to Be

From a Brigham Young University devotional address given on January 13, 2009. For the full text of the address in English, visit http://speeches.byu.edu.

Jeffrey R. Holland  Look ahead and remember that faith is always pointed toward the future.
The start of a new year is the traditional time to take stock of our lives and see where we are going, measured against the backdrop of where we have been. I don’t want to talk about New Year’s resolutions, but I do want to talk about the past and the future, with an eye toward any time of transition and change in our lives—and those moments come virtually every day.
As a scriptural theme for this discussion, I have chosen Luke 17:32, where the Savior cautions, “Remember Lot’s wife.” What did He mean by such an enigmatic little phrase? To find out, we need to do as He suggested. Let’s recall who Lot’s wife was.
The story, of course, comes to us out of the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, when the Lord, having had as much as He could stand of the worst that men and women could do, told Lot and his family to flee because those cities were about to be destroyed. “Escape for thy life,” the Lord said. “Look not behind thee … ; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed” (Genesis 19:17; emphasis added).
With less than immediate obedience and more than a little negotiation, Lot and his family ultimately did leave town but just in the nick of time. The scriptures tell us what happened at daybreak the morning following their escape:
“The Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;
“And he overthrew those cities” (Genesis 19:24–25).
My theme comes in the next verse. Surely, with the Lord’s counsel—“look not behind thee”—ringing clearly in her ears, Lot’s wife, the record says, “looked back,” and she was turned into a pillar of salt (see verse 26).
Just what did Lot’s wife do that was so wrong? As a student of history, I have thought about that and offer a partial answer. Apparently, what was wrong with Lot’s wife was that she wasn’t just looking back; in her heart she wanted to go back. It would appear that even before she was past the city limits, she was already missing what Sodom and Gomorrah had offered her. As Elder Neal A. Maxwell (1926–2004) of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles once said, such people know they should have their primary residence in Zion, but they still hope to keep a summer cottage in Babylon. 1
It is possible that Lot’s wife looked back with resentment toward the Lord for what He was asking her to leave behind. We certainly know that Laman and Lemuel were resentful when Lehi and his family were commanded to leave Jerusalem. So it isn’t just that she looked back; she looked back longingly. In short, her attachment to the past outweighed her confidence in the future. That, apparently, was at least part of her sin.

Faith Points to the Future

As a new year begins and we try to benefit from a proper view of what has gone before, I plead with you not to dwell on days now gone nor to yearn vainly for yesterdays, however good those yesterdays may have been. The past is to be learned from but not lived in. We look back to claim the embers from glowing experiences but not the ashes. And when we have learned what we need to learn and have brought with us the best that we have experienced, then we look ahead and remember that faith is always pointed toward the future. Faith always has to do with blessings and truths and events that will yet be efficacious in our lives.
So a more theological way to talk about Lot’s wife is to say that she did not have faith. She doubted the Lord’s ability to give her something better than she already had. Apparently, she thought that nothing that lay ahead could possibly be as good as what she was leaving behind.
To yearn to go back to a world that cannot be lived in now, to be perennially dissatisfied with present circumstances and have only dismal views of the future, and to miss the here and now and tomorrow because we are so trapped in the there and then and yesterday are some of the sins of Lot’s wife.
After the Apostle Paul reviewed the privileged and rewarding life of his early years—his birthright, education, and standing in the Jewish community—he says to the Philippians that all of that was “dung” compared to his conversion to Christianity. He says, and I paraphrase, “I have stopped rhapsodizing about ‘the good old days’ and now eagerly look toward the future ‘that I may apprehend that for which Christ apprehended me’” (see Philippians 3:7–12). Then come these verses:
“This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13–14).
No Lot’s wife here. No looking back at Sodom and Gomorrah here. Paul knows it is out there in the future, up ahead wherever heaven is taking us, that we will win “the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

Forgive and Forget

There is something in many of us that particularly fails to forgive and forget earlier mistakes in life—either our mistakes or the mistakes of others. It is not good. It is not Christian. It stands in terrible opposition to the grandeur and majesty of the Atonement of Christ. To be tied to earlier mistakes is the worst kind of wallowing in the past from which we are called to cease and desist.
I was told once of a young man who for many years was more or less the brunt of every joke in his school. He had some disadvantages, and it was easy for his peers to tease him. Later in his life he moved away. He eventually joined the army and had some successful experiences there in getting an education and generally stepping away from his past. Above all, as many in the military do, he discovered the beauty and majesty of the Church and became active and happy in it.
Then, after several years, he returned to the town of his youth. Most of his generation had moved on but not all. Apparently, when he returned quite successful and quite reborn, the same old mind-set that had existed before was still there, waiting for his return. To the people in his hometown, he was still just old “so-and-so”—you remember the guy who had the problem, the idiosyncrasy, the quirky nature, and did such and such. And wasn’t it all just hilarious?
Little by little this man’s Pauline effort to leave that which was behind and grasp the prize that God had laid before him was gradually diminished until he died about the way he had lived in his youth. He came full circle: again inactive and unhappy and the brunt of a new generation of jokes. Yet he had had that one bright, beautiful midlife moment when he had been able to rise above his past and truly see who he was and what he could become. Too bad, too sad that he was again to be surrounded by a whole batch of Lot’s wives, those who thought his past was more interesting than his future. They managed to rip out of his grasp that for which Christ had grasped him. And he died sad, though through little fault of his own.
That also happens in marriages and other relationships. I can’t tell you the number of couples I have counseled who, when they are deeply hurt or even just deeply stressed, reach farther and farther into the past to find yet a bigger brick to throw through the window “pain” of their marriage. When something is over and done with, when it has been repented of as fully as it can be repented of, when life has moved on as it should and a lot of other wonderfully good things have happened since then, it is not right to go back and open some ancient wound that the Son of God Himself died to heal.
Let people repent. Let people grow. Believe that people can change and improve. Is that faith? Yes! Is that hope? Yes! Is that charity? Yes! Above all, it is charity, the pure love of Christ. If something is buried in the past, leave it buried. Don’t keep going back with your little sand pail and beach shovel to dig it up, wave it around, and then throw it at someone, saying, “Hey! Do you remember this?” Splat!
Well, guess what? That is probably going to result in some ugly morsel being dug up out of your landfill with the reply, “Yeah, I remember it. Do you remember this?” Splat.
And soon enough everyone comes out of that exchange dirty and muddy and unhappy and hurt, when what our Father in Heaven pleads for is cleanliness and kindness and happiness and healing.
Such dwelling on past lives, including past mistakes, is just not right! It is not the gospel of Jesus Christ. In some ways it is worse than Lot’s wife because at least she destroyed only herself. In cases of marriage and family, wards and branches, apartments and neighborhoods, we can end up destroying so many others.
Perhaps at this beginning of a new year there is no greater requirement for us than to do as the Lord Himself said He does: “He who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more” (D&C 58:42).
The proviso, of course, is that repentance has to be sincere, but when it is and when honest effort is being made to progress, we are guilty of the greater sin if we keep remembering and recalling and rebashing someone with his or her earlier mistakes—and that someone might be ourselves. We can be so hard on ourselves—often much more so than on others!
Now, like the Anti-Nephi-Lehies of the Book of Mormon, bury your weapons of war and leave them buried (see Alma 24). Forgive and do that which is sometimes harder than to forgive: forget. And when it comes to mind again, forget it again.

The Best Is Yet to Be

You can remember just enough to avoid repeating the mistake, but then put the rest of it all on the dung heap Paul spoke of to the Philippians. Dismiss the destructive, and keep dismissing it until the beauty of the Atonement of Christ has revealed to you your bright future and the bright future of your family, your friends, and your neighbors. God doesn’t care nearly as much about where you have been as He does about where you are and, with His help, where you are willing to go. That is the thing Lot’s wife didn’t get—and neither did Laman and Lemuel and a host of others in the scriptures.
This is an important matter to consider at the start of a new year—and every day ought to be the start of a new year and a new life. Such is the wonder of faith, repentance, and the miracle of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The poet Robert Browning wrote:
Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be,
The last of life, for which the first was made:
Our times are in his hand
Who saith, “A whole I planned,
Youth shows but half; trust God: see all, nor be afraid!” 2
Some of you may wonder: Is there any future for me? What does a new year or a new semester, a new major or a new romance, a new job or a new home hold for me? Will I be safe? Will life be sound? Can I trust in the Lord and in the future? Or would it be better to look back, to go back, to stay in the past?
To all such of every generation, I call out, “Remember Lot’s wife.” Faith is for the future. Faith builds on the past but never longs to stay there. Faith trusts that God has great things in store for each of us and that Christ truly is the “high priest of good things to come” (Hebrews 9:11).
Keep your eyes on your dreams, however distant and far away. Live to see the miracles of repentance and forgiveness, of trust and divine love that will transform your life today, tomorrow, and forever. That is a New Year’s resolution I ask you to keep.

Strength in the Lord

Woke up this morning, and Decided to pump out 100 Consistent Push ups. 150 by Memorial day is my Goal. I realize that i have to work at it to achieve it! I have hit many walls around 70-85 push ups. This Morning was different I stretched myself further, I set the Goal at 120, yes I fell short at my goal, but I broke that wall by doing 100 Push ups. That Morning revolved around the topic of Strength. Have  you ever felt like you just couldn't do something on your own ? You tried over and over and just couldn't do it. That is how I felt with my goal of push ups.

There was a man named Zeniff, he had great Faith in the Lord, even enough to put his trust and his strength in the Lord as he went up to battle this civilization, called the Lamanites. Look at the Contrast as those who have strength in the Lord and those you don't.

10 And it came to pass that we did go up to battle against the Lamanites; and I, even I, in my old age, did go up to battle against the Lamanites. And it came to pass that we did go up in the astrength of the Lord to battle.

11Now, the Lamanites knew nothing concerning the Lord, nor the strength of the Lord, therefore they depended upon their own strength. Yet they were a strong people, as to the astrength of men.

Sometimes, our strength seems like a lot to the world, imagine when we put our strength in the Lord.

The story in the Book of Mormon goes on, and we find out that Zeniff and his people won the battle.
I promise you that as you put your trust and strength in the Lord, he will help you win your Battles.

Three Days Grace

Every Once in a while you get in a conversation about some of your Favorite bands. At the same time, around Easter it clicked. Three Days Grace, one of America's favorite bands is a Christian Rock band.
I was talking with a kid the other day and helped him realize what "Three Days Grace" actually means.

As we know, Christ is the son of God, he came down here to save us all from our sins, trials, sickness and Challenges. It is by his Grace that we are saved. Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ, is the way, that we receive Christs Grace.

It is not Hard to Live the Gospel, in fact if you really look at it, life is harder when you don't.  The Basic Principles of the Gospel are Faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance, Baptism by Immersion( by one having authority), Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the End.

Christ's Life- I feel my Savior's Love by Paul Cardall

I'm sure, there are many Dedications out there at this Time for Mothers, some for all and Some that may be Individual. I wish to Describe my Mother and  also a Mother figure in my life. For me, My Relationship started with my Mother Humming the song " I feel My Saviors love"as she was holding me as a baby. It is amazing to me, that I can remember and Cherish that memory. My mother always told me that I am her        " Bond, Tie and Promise". I have known this all of my life, It has been a Strength and Comfort to me. My mother has always been there for me. She has helped me grow Spiritually as well as physically. She is the most Creative person I have ever met! She taught me about Desire. Desire, is everything, it is our motivation and our drive to accomplish whatever we put our hearts to. For her, it is caring for all of her Children and setting a good example for us.

My Mother, exemplifies the love of my Heavenly Father. She taught me at a very Early age that I am a Child of God. God also taught all of us that we are his Children, before we were born. Along with Mothers and the Holy Spirit we remember this Truth. I am grateful for A loving Mother, who would do anything for me and if she couldn't do it, I had an older sister who was always there for me. I remember when i was sick, if my Mom wasn't around my older Sister would be there for me to be that Mother Figure, to take care of me and cook me meals. I can proudly say today that she is a mother of her own and she does a great Job at it.

What makes an Incredible women ?

Her Nature, she was born with Compassion and Love

Her Virtue, She was born Pure and will stay pure as she has the right influences.

Her Love for the Lord, if she loves the Lord she will love everyone.

I am grateful for mothers who have, develop, and maintain these standards to be Incredible women

Happy Mothers Day!

Working in the Garden

Remember, when we were little and were told to "Stay out of our Grandmas garden"? There is a reason that grandma or our parents would say this, and that is so we wouldn't trample the plants or pick something we weren't supposed to. I was studying  about the Lord and his Vinyard and I found that the Vinyard is the world, the Lord however does want us to be in the Garden,( Jacob 5:15)And it came to pass that a long time passed away, and the Lord of the vineyard said unto his servant: Come, let us go down into the vineyard, that we may alabor in the vineyard.) He wants to be with us Just like our parents or Grandma, it is ok to go in the Garden with them, they will show us around, they will help us see the Beauty of it, but if we go into the Garden alone we start picking things we shouldn't and stomp on plants. The Lord had a Great purpose for the Garden, he used Olive Trees in His Garden, they all started out good, some not in the best of ground, but he gave all of the trees a fair chance. We might not think that we have a fair Chance, but the Lord gives us the opportunity to grow just like a plant would, it is up to us whether we allow him to "Dig about, Graft, Prune and Nourish" us.
Jacob 5:29 And it came to pass that a along time had passed away, and the Lord of the vineyard said unto his bservant: Come, let us go down into the vineyard, that we may labor again in the vineyard. For behold, the time draweth near, and the cend soon cometh; wherefore, I must lay up fruit against the season, unto mine own self.
The wondeful thing is the Lord wants all of his Trees in his Vinyard to bare "Good" fruit.  He Weeps, when he does all that he can and still the Tree has to be cast off.  What can we do to be the Tree that grows  good Fruit ?  Help, one another, Trees grow stronger when they are surrounded by each other, surround yourself with good, strong trees,  and allow the Master of the Vinyard to give you more strength. He knows what is best for all of us, pray and hear the words that he speaks to you personally.

First Descent

I am a Snowboarding Fanatic! Those who understand me, would agree that the Biography/ Movie First Descent   is one of the greatest movies to show extreme snowboarding. It starts out with Terje Haakonsen, Shaun White, Hannah Teter, and Shawn Farmer, in the peaks of Valdez Alaska. The title Definitely Fits the Movie, The peaks are so Jagged and steep, that as they are flown by Helicopter to their Destination, they have to Make "Their First Descent"

My favorite is when they decide to ride the famous 7,601 vertical ft peak. When they get up there the wind is so strong, that the Helicopter can't stay around too long. At First the five of them are sitting on this peak, and they chicken out.

Throughout the movie, Terje Haakonsen has 7,601 on his mind, he knows that his trip wont be complete until he conquers this mountain.

All of us have a "First Descent", for some it may be a career choice, Lifestyle change, beliefs, or starting a Family. Much like Terje and the rest of the crew we are at our "personal peaks", we don't know which way to go , or what it is going to look like when we make that Descent. Terje was very smart about this, yes he did have guts, but he also had lots of resources They mapped out where he was going , in the movie they call it "Picking Lines". We also have to pick our lines in life. It can be as scary as standing on a peak and not being able to look over the edge, I know that we are not alone, we have many resources! No matter who you are, or where you are at,you can always pray. I'm sure Terje was praying for guidance, and it's great that he did because why not ask the person who created the mountain ? The same goes for us, God knows everyone of our "personal peaks", he has given us the opportunity to ride them out. Yes Terje did have to jump, and yes their were some pretty sketchy situations but as he picked his line, he knew where he wanted to go. He took his time through some of it and we will need to do that in our life, patience and prayer are the keys. I promise you that when you have made it through, you will have enjoyed the ride, maybe not all of it but as a whole.

  • Doctrine and Covenants 98:3

Therefore, he giveth this promise unto you, with an immutable covenant(promise) that they shall be fulfilled; and all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your good, and to my name’s glory, saith the Lord.
